Our Story
Nishani & Sarthak
We first met in 2019 on a little app called DilMil, where an unexpected spark turned into something so much deeper. What started with simple texts quickly grew into endless conversations that went well beyond science, philosophy, Cowboy’s games, food recipes, and travel bucket lists. We’d find ourselves chatting for hours on Netflix Party, with the movie itself being the backdrop to a conversation that felt like home. We would spend hours getting to know each other despite having rough days at school and work - We had created our own little world together. From our first Facetime to several care packages and handwritten letters in the mail that carried a piece of us across the miles, we knew there was something special.
Fast forward to April 2021, we finally made it official – and by "official," we mean Nishani brought Sunny from Houston to Dallas to meet her family just two weeks after finally meeting in person. We were that sure, because from the moment we connected, it felt like everything in our lives were leading us towards each other. Soon after, we traveled to Tennessee to meet his family, and in between our bond grew even stronger.
Our families met, we shared experiences, and our love continued to blossom. From cooking together, discovering new restaurants to exploring the world, lots of game and trivia nights, and hanging out with each other’s friends, every moment together has been filled with joy and laughter.
Then, on August 16, 2023, in the most magical of moments, Sunny asked Nishani to spend forever with him on top of the Cap Formentor in Mallorca, Spain, where the sunrise met the Mediterranean Sea. He had arranged this beautiful photoshoot as we were running back down memory lane. Everything was beyond what we could have imagined.
And the rest is history
Here we are today, excited to take the next step in our journey together, surrounded by those we love.
Fun Facts About Us
1 . We tell people our first date was at Dave and Buster’s, but actually our first date was at the mall. Sunny, as usual, forgot some clothes, and the first thing we did together was go buy pants. (At least he was nice enough to get me Auntie Anne’s afterwards AND he introduced me to pretzels and marinara - surprisingly very yummy!!)
2 . Nishani and Sunny love to cook, and both are very competitive on making the best dish. Sunny swears he’s the better cook and Nishani knows that she’s actually the master chef, but we make the best food when we are together.
3. The competition continues into video games with Sunny and Nishani both being gamers. Mario Party nights and trivia can get pretty intense!
4. Sunny loves his black coffee, Nish loves her masala chai (with plenty of sugar)!
5 . We send memes to each other all day. The day isn’t complete without a few laughs and tiktoks.
6 . We Have a Matching Pair of Pajamas "One of us hates it. The other thinks it's adorable. Guess who's who."
7. We’re Long-Distance Champs We survived years apart, across time zones, with more video calls and frequent flyer miles than we can count. Thank god for American Airlines and their reward program!
8 . Our love language is sharing food with each other. Always has to be from the same plate too!
9 . Sunny never runs out of “fun facts” and Nish never runs out of jokes and making him laugh.
10. We, just like our dads, share a huge affinity to the Dallas Cowboys (even though Sunny is from Tennessee). And yes, this year is their year!!
